Matthew 18:23-27 New International Version (NIV)
23 “Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand bags of gold[a] was brought to him. 25 Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt. 26 “At this the servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Be patient with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’ 27 The servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go. Like the servant in this parable, we often think that the answer to our problems is
just a little more time. If I had a little more time I could get that project done at
work. If I had a little more time I could get everything ready for the harvest. If I had
a little more time I could… God’s not interested in giving us a little more time. He
insists on forgiving us right now whether we are ready for it or not! You are
forgiven! Completely. You are set free from needing more time, more money, more
energy, more patience, more… You are forgiven. You are loved. Whether you are
ready or not God has given you His complete and eternal mercy, grace, and love.
Now you are free to live and love. God is not keeping score. Every time you feel like
you are not enough, you have not done enough, or you do not have enough then
you can let the Holy Spirit speak to your heart and say, “You are forgiven.”
