Jesus Came...He is the Ultimate Good!

Matthew 2:7-9 New International Version

7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. 8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.” 9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.

King Herod the Great was a ruthless leader. He killed members of his own family whom he suspected of plotting against him. If a new king who will fulfill some ancient prophecy really has been born then he wanted to know about it and… get rid of his new rival! The magi had no clue that Herod was using them for his violent purposes, so off they go in search of the new king. Life is a lot like this story. The good is wrapped up in all sorts of bad, evil or wicked. Usually, the good and the bad are so deeply intertwined that we cannot unravel the two. But that is exactly why Jesus came! He is the ultimate good! And he came down and wrapped himself up in our sin and badness. He came to take all of it onto his shoulders and carry it to the cross. In Jesus we have peace with God and forgiveness of our sins.
